And now it’s June!
My next “Happier At Home” project is all about marriage. I’ve been married for eight years and in October we will celebrate nine years together. WOW! How times flies when you are having fun.. or not!
I married smart – my hubby is amazing. I am his queen, or at least I’d like to think I am. What I do know is that I am a handful! I don’t even want to think of all the annoying things I do.
Marriage definitely has its peaks and valleys. You’ve heard it all: pick your battles, ignore your significant other. My motto is this: be honest and don’t hold back. If you don’t, then you hold a grudge and the other person doesn’t know what is bothering you.
So this month we have to work on our relationship and give it the attention it deserves. Just like you have to groom to look fabulous, you should also groom your relationship! Here are some of this things author Gretchen Rubin writes that you can do. Have appreciation, tenderness, more cooperation and FUN!
Here are some questions to make you think of your relationship:
Do you kiss in the morning and at night?
Do you expect praise or appreciation? (No gold stars over here!)
What is he or she responsible for that you can do? (Thats a good one, like the trash?)
Are you an argument score keeper? (If you are stop it right now!)
Rubin points out that it’s not just enough to say I love you or to simply love, now we have to prove it.
I guess I’m going to start taking out the trash, LOL! Move over February because cupid is moving into June. Have fun grooming your marriage and don’t forget to have fun!
